MISSION
The Executive Committee of the Securities Operations Section (SOS), a section of the Operations & Technology Society of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), is requesting that you consider membership in our organization for 2010. SOS provides a forum for educational and development support to members of broker/dealers, banks and investment management firms. Since 1917, SOS has been at the helm of developments in greater efficiency and uniformity of operational practices by securities professionals, through its strengths in education and advocacy. Equally important, SOS promotes a spirit of shared purpose, cooperation and goodwill among persons holding positions of responsibility in banking and brokerage.
As an active 2010 member of our Section you will:

First and most importantly, become a member of a Section which recently merged with the Cashiers Association of Wall Street, bringing a diverse knowledgeable group of industry professionals under one umbrella

Receive invitations to Educational Forums that are designed to disseminate relevant industry news, information and educational material that cover a wide range of operational topics

You will have a direct link to industry professionals to address and provide input on various industry issues, through partnership with Industry Utilities, Exchanges, Regulators and other SIFMA Sections and Societies

Voice your firm's opinion through the Regulatory and Clearance Sub-committee (REG and Clearance) and shape the future of our Industry.

“SOS News &Views” – Our highly rated newsletter provides information on a diverse range of topics that are relevant to our industry - it is regarded as a digest of leading securities clearance, settlement and related regulatory news for SOS members

Educational Forums – We sponsor a minimum of four (4) educational events per year, which are designed to inform and identify solutions to the most important current issues in our industry. Members receive priority admission to these events, as well as a voice in choosing topics

Scholarship Program – The SOS funds up to four (4) scholarship awards per year, each renewable for four years. Scholarship eligibility is limited to the immediate family of paid members in good standing.

Participation in industry working groups – We actively work with regulators/utilities/vendors to ensure that the industry’s priorities and concerns are heard and addressed. We are often invited to join these groups and speak at forums throughout the country.

Networking opportunities – Throughout the year, SOS individually, and through partnerships with other SIFMA Sections and Societies, holds various events in which our members, from all levels of the industry, have an opportunity to meet and network with their colleagues.
